The answer is simple-because the invention of the trolley case is much later than you think.
For a long time, people carried boxes to catch trains and ships. It wasn’t until the 1970s that someone suddenly thought: Why not put some wheels on the box? Thus, the earliest “wheeled luggage” appeared.
But at that time, the wheels were fixed and could only be dragged in one direction. What really changed the world was in 1991, when a pilot named Robert Plath, carrying a heavy suitcase through an airport, had a flash of inspiration: Why not make the wheels universal?
Thus, the four-wheel universal trolley case was born.
This seemingly simple invention has completely changed the way people travel. Today, we can walk gracefully on the smooth floor of the airport, pushing our suitcases with one hand, without bending down or struggling.
